Santa Boston

Tree Lighting on the Boston Common

Tomorrow night is the tree lighting on the Boston Common. I’ll never forget the moment I was asked to be Santa Claus for the City of Boston. As a Santa Claus for hire in Massachusetts, reaching this point in my career was a game changer for me. At that point I had been Santa Claus for about eight years, and while many of my events were in Boston, the majority were all over Massachusetts.

What’s really fun about the tree lighting is how different each year is, and how it reflects what’s happening in the Bay State. I’ll never forget how meaningful it was to perform on that stage after the Marathon Bombing, nor will I forget how tight security was that day. And last year in the midst of the pandemic we filmed with no audience whilst wearing masks.

You can watch the event on Thursday, December 2nd on Channel WCVB. Coverage starts at 7:00 p.m. Or come on down to the Boston Common and help us light the beautiful tree, a wonderful gift from our friends in Nova Scotia!
